Японія складається з декількох тисяч островів. Вона межує з Росією, Кореєю та Китаєм. Японське море відокремлює Азійський континент від Японського архіпелагу (archipelago). Більше 50 % країни – гориста . Гори вкриті лісами. В Японії багато вулканів (volcano). Зима мяка, а літо – дуже жарке. На початку літа в Японії сезон дощів.
